Drought Tolerant Plants

May 20, 2023 @ 9:30 am - 11:00 am
$20

Instructors: Robert Bowden

Although it may be raining every day now, just a month ago we were in a major drought. Leaves were turning brown, flowers often only lasted a day and the ground was so dry water just rolled off. Enjoy a helpful presentation by former Leu Gardens’ Director Robert Bowden as he points out plants in the Garden that enjoy high temperatures and very little rain. The latter half of the class will take place in the Gardens so be sure to wear comfortable clothes and shoes.

Robert Bowden recently retired as Executive Director of Leu Gardens after nearly three decades. Earlier in his career he was the Executive Director of the Atlanta Botanical Garden, Director of Horticulture of the Missouri Botanical Garden in St. Louis, and Assistant Director of Old Westbury Gardens on Long Island. He is the author of many books including Florida Fruit & Vegetable Gardening: Plant, Grow, and Harvest the Best Edibles and the Florida Top Ten Garden Guide. He also teaches several horticulture classes in the Science Department at Valencia State College.

Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are available to FNGLA Certified Professionals upon request.

Participants must withdraw from classes at least five days prior to the start of class in order to receive a full refund or credit.  If we must cancel a class, we will make every effort to inform you prior to the class time, and you will receive a full refund or credit.
