A woman’s right to vote was finally granted 102 years ago back in 1920! Raised in a traditional family\, Ophelia ponders the roles and rights of Florida women leading up to the fight for the right to vote. What was her part in it? At first\, Ophelia attends the early Florida Suffragette meetings. But soon more confrontational tactics become necessary if Washington is to take women’s right to vote seriously. What struggles did women face attaining the right to vote? Why did Suffragettes wear white? Why did Florid wait until 1969 to ratify suffrage for women? Find out when you celebrate with Ophelia\, Florida Suffragette. \nFree for members\, with paid museum admission\, or $7.00 for non-members. \n  \nDianne Jacoby is a proud fourth-generation Floridan living in St. Augustine\, FL\, the Oldest City. As a historical dramatist\, she writes\, researches\, and performs one-woman dramas throughout the country. She specializes in women who reflect periods of Florida’s history. Dianne also co-founded The Double Trouble Theatre Co. specializing in 16th century Spanish Comedia\, Murder Mysteries\, and Ghost Theatre. She has performed in PBS documentaries\, educational films\, and a variety of live theatre. She has reenacted living history throughout the eastern seaboard as personas both male and female and time periods from 1513 to 1915. She is certified in black powder and fire pistols\, muskets\, and cannons. She lectured\, performed\, and coordinated Stetson University’s Roadscholar programs as an adjunct professor and is a graduate of Stetson University herself. As an educator\, she taught for many years in South Florida and was an adjunct professor of Art at Flagler College.

DESCRIPTION:Botanical Lotion Making\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout this event\n\n\nSaturday\, April 9\, 2022 \n9:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. \nInstructor: Pinky Ormand \nIf you have always wanted to use flowers to create your own botanical lotions than this is the class for you. Pinky will be demonstrating a step by step process using the calendula flowers that she seeded\, planted\, harvested and dried for her own lotions. All materials provided but please bring your hand clippers to class\, if you have them\, and wear appropriate garden clothes. You will be walking through the gardens so wear comfortable walking shoes. \nPinky Ormand is a horticulturist at Harry P. Leu Gardens and maintains the Idea Garden\, White Garden\, Butterfly Garden and the Camellia Collection. Pinky attended the University of Central Florida where she graduated with a B.A. in Art and has also earned a Landscape & Horticulture Technology degree from Valencia College. \nContinuing Education Units (CEUs) are available to FNGLA Certified Professionals upon request.  \nParticipants must withdraw from classes at least five days prior to the start of class in order to receive a full refund or credit.
